Abstract: Germline stem cells of the Drosophila testis delay completion of cytokinesis. My work reveals that the niche regulates this delay and that a second stem cell population is necessary to trigger the final step of cytokinesis in the germline. This cross-talk between the stem cells likely serves to coordinate daughter cell production from the niche.
