“Thyroid Hormone Regulates Skeletal Patterning in Zebrafish”

Thyroid hormone regulates basal metabolism and stimulates the critical developmental transition of metamorphosis. We use zebrafish to study the roles of the hormone on bone morphogenesis. We show a novel role in proximodistal patterning on the fins: thyroid hormone appears to distalize fin elements independent of overall growth.
