“Immune system optimization in a variable world”

The integration of theoretical, genomic, and experimental studies of natural genetic variation among flour beetle populations and other insect species provides insight into the roles of development and genetic pleiotropy in shaping the evolution of innate immune systems and host susceptibility to infection.
