“Cellular insights from the genetic lawbreaker Auanema rhodensis”
The nematode Auanema rhodensis exhibits remarkable meiotic plasticity as it regularly varies its X chromosome segregation in both sex and gamete specific ways. Investigations into the underlying cellular mechanisms have yielded unexpected insights from novel modes of hermaphroditism to chromosome-linked mechanisms of cellular polarization.
