“Charting and Interpreting Human Genetic Variation”

The catalog of the full spectrum of genetic variation is essential for advancing the fields of human genetics, genome biology, and precision medicine. However, despite significant advances in whole-genome sequencing technology and bioinformatics tool development, many types of genetic variation, particularly large structural variants (SVs), can still not be identified accurately. In this seminar, I will present improved methods and resources for characterizing SVs, ascertaining functional relevance of SVs, and associations of SVs with specific phenotypic traits.
